Pvt. Edwin R. Jezierski 36736817 US Army KIA. He was born on September 20, 1924 in Chicago Illinois the son of Joseph Jezierski and Valeria A Jezierski. At the time of his enlistment he was 6 feet tall weighed 220 pounds had Blue eyes and blond hair. On February 12, 1945 he along with PFC latter SSGT Herman Schoonover, 37392649 were transferred from the 71st Replacement Bn to E Company 253rd Infantry Regiment, 63rd Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on April 4th 1945, at the age of 20. He died on hill 233 near the town of Untergriesheim Germany at the age of 27. At the time of his death E Company was holding back a strong close quarter combat counterattack by the 17th SS of Infantry and Tanks. Had E Company not been able to hold back this attack the SS would have pushed 2nd Battalion, 253rd Infantry, in to the Jagst River. He is buried at Saint Adalbert Catholic Cemetery Niles, Cook County, Illinois, USA the 3 was left off of his grave stone on 253rd. He was awarded the Bronze Stare Medal, Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater of operations Medal the World War Two Victory Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge.
