Private First Class WILLIAM MURRAY EVANS

Private First Class WILLIAM MURRAY EVANS, U. S. Army. Husband of Mrs. Charline Evans of, 915 Princess Street, Shreveport Louisiana. He is the brother of T/ Sergeant FORT A. FIELDS, Private First Class WILLIAM W. FIELDS, Private First Class TROY L. EVANS and Private First Class NEWELL L. EVANS. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex M. Fields, was born May 29, 1918. He attended Coushatta High School and was a farmer and welder before entering service November 1, 1942, at Fort Sam Houston Texas at the age of 24. He trained for Field Artillery at Camp Howze, Texas, Camp Livngston, Louisiana, and Fort Dix, New Jersey, gong overseas September 15, 1944, and serving in England, France and Germany until January 20, 1946. He fought in the campaigns of Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland, and Central Europe and was awarded the American Theater Medal, the Victory Medal, European Theater of Operations (ETO) Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal.
