Private First Class WILLIAM W. FIELDS 34029913, U. S. Army. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex M. Fields, Shreveport Louisiana. He is the brother of T/ Sergeant FORT A. FIELDS Private First Class TROY L. EVANS and Private First Class NEWELL L. EVANS. He was born December 8, 1917, and was educated at East Point High School. Inducted into the service March 25, 1941, at Camp Shelby Mississippi at the age of 23. He served with the Field Artillery until August 13, 1943, as a member of Battery C, 44th Field Artillery Battalion, 4th Division. His assignments included Camp Shelby, Mississippi, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Camp Gordon, Georgia, Camp Blanding, Florida, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and Fort Dix, New Jersey. He received a medical discharge at Fort Dix. He holds the Good Conduct Medal earned during almost 18 months of service.
