Staff Sergeant Francis “Frank” Hooper Myrick 34020667 US Army. He was born on January 6, 1919, in Kenton, Tennessee. He was the son of Thomas J. Myrick and Wilkie Susan Hester Myrick, of 1504 Laurel Mississippi. He enlisted in the US Army on March 18, 1941 at the age of 22. He served in C Company, 253^rd Infantry Regiment, 63^rd Infantry Division and, K Company, 253^rd Infantry Regiment, 63^rd Infantry Division. He served in combat with Forth Platoons, Company F, 253^rd Infantry Regiment, 63^rd Infantry Division.

On April 6, 1945 outside of the town of Buchhof Germany, Fourth Platoon was trying to make the advance continue because they were being delayed by massive enemy fire. T/Sgt Gerthie Kennedy, the platoon sergeant of Fourth Platoon, was leading the machine gun section when the sniper from the church seriously wounded him in the leg. At this point Private Frank H. Myrick continued what Sergeant Kennedy started. Myrick then crossed fifty yards of open ground under direct enemy machine gun fire; Myrick put his machine gun to action. The accurate fire from his weapon compelled the enemy to discontinue firing, and at the same time gave Fourth Platoon the cover necessary to allow the men to advance against the enemy position, which had hitherto held up the advance of the company.

He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Silver Star Medal, the Bronze Stare Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations, the European Theater of Operations Medal ETO with 2 battle star, and the World War Two Victory Medal. He died on August 9, 1993 at the age of 74, in Ellisville Mississippi.
