Gunner’s Mate Third Class RAYMOND CECIL WILSON

Gunner’s Mate Third Class RAYMOND CECIL WILSON, US Navy. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Monroe Rigdon. He was born July 3, 1926, and attended Haynesville High School. He was with Consolidated Vultee Corporation prior to entering the U. S. Navy on May 5, 1944, at Camp Wallace, Texas, at the age of 18. He received boot training at the Naval Training and Destroyer Center. From the Naval Training School, Lake Union, Seattle (Gunnery School) he went from Bremerton, Washington, to Shoemaker, California, for overseas assignment, embarking February 22, 1945, for Hollandia, New Guinea, with the USS Lark ATO 168 with which he served in the South Pacific. He has the Asiatic Pacific Theater (PTO) Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and served at the Naval Air Station Dallas, and the Naval Training Center at San Diego with ship’s company as training escort. He received his discharge January 3, 1946. He is also the brother of Sergeant ALVIN RIGDON, POW KIA, Corporal RAY C. RIGDON, and Sergeant WILLIE ODELLE RIGDON.
