Private First Class Henry U. Valencia 38626392 KIA. He was born on October 15, 1925 in Dallas Texas, the son of Lucy U. Valencia, and Gil Ubay Valencia. He entered the US Army on December 21, 1943 at the age of 18. He served in, B Company, 254th Infantry regiment, 63rd Infantry Division. On January 25, 1945 in the vicinity of Jebsheim, France. Although under intense mortar, machine gun and machine pistol fire, Private First Class Valencia crawled out in front of the enemy lines to rescue a wounded man. As he was returning with the man, an enemy burst of fire struck him in the legs. In spite of his injury, Private First Class Valencia carried on his attempted rescue until another burst of fire killed him just short of safety. The wounded man survived. PFC Valencia was Killed in Action on January 25, 1945, at the age of 19. He was Awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, The Silver Star Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations, the European Theater of Operations Medal ETO and the World War Two Victory Medal.
