PFC David Mark Torsell Sr. 33764369 US Army. He was born on July 3, 1924, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph Torsell, and Verna Palmer Torsell. He entered the US army on Aug 21, 1943 in Altoona Pennsylvania. He served in Company A, 363rd Medical Battalion, 63rd Infantry Division. He entered the company on September 19, 1943.
He earned the Combat Medical badge under General Order 427 which also made it where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for earning the Combat Medical badge. He transferred to the 100th Infantry Division on June 24, 1945. He was awarded, the Bronze Star Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, The American Theater of operations Medal, the European Theater of Operations Medal ETO with 2 battle stars, the World War Two Victory Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal and Combat Medical Badge.
After the war he married Shirley Marie Young on October 4, 1947, in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. They had two children during their marriage Patricia and Davis. PFC Torsell received his Bachelor of Science in Mortuary Science degree from The Pittsburg Institution of Mortuary Science. Throughout his professional career David had worked as a licensed funeral director, appraiser with the State of Ohio, Department of Transportation and The Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. He also was co-owner of The Urbana Development Corporation and had been a salesman for The Carnation Milk Company. He was very active in the Masonic fraternity, belonging to Harmony Lodge #8 in Urbana, Ohio. He also belonged to and was active in Chapter, Council and Commandry. He was a life member of VFW Post #8794. David had been a member of The Civil Defense Corps of Champaign and Franklin Counties. He had been very active with the Boy Scouts of America of Champaign County, serving as a Scout Master. He died on November 3, 2015, in Pandora, Ohio, at the age of 91, and was buried in Bluffton, Ohio.
