Technical Sergeant Hugo Bertil ‘Swede’ Sorenson
Technical Sergeant Hugo Bertil ‘Swede’ Sorenson US Army Air Corps. He was born on February 7, 1920 in Malmo, Sweden. He was the son of Gustav Sorenson and Esther Sorenson. He was also the brother of Oscar F Sorenson, Douglas Sorenson, and George Sorenson. The Family immigrated to the United States in 1921, and lived in Salt Lake City Utah. Hugo graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City Utah the class of 1938. He worked as a School Teacher before enlisting in the Army Air Corps. At the time he enlisted he was 170 pounds, he was 6 feet 3 inches, he had brown hair and Hazel eyes. Hugo Joined the US Army November 4, 1941 at Fort Douglas, at the age of 21. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of operations (PTO) during World War Two. On November 30, 1945 he reenlisted in the Army Air Corps. He was awarded the American Defense Medal, American Theater of operations medal, The Asiatic Pacific Theater of operations medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal. Hugo died on August 29, 1996, at the age of 76.
