Seaman 1st class George Sorenson 3687226 US Navy. He was born on January 2, 1924 in Salt Lake City Utah. He was the son of Gustav Sorenson and Esther Sorenson. He was also the brother of Oscar F Sorenson, Hugo Sorenson, and Douglas Sorenson. The Family immigrated to the United States in 1921, from Malmo, Sweden. George Enlisted in the US Navy on January 1, 1942, the day before his 18th birthday. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of operations (PTO) aboard the USS Mississippi BB-41 from 1942 until 1944.He was serving on the ship with his brother Douglas. On July 28, 1944 George received a Medical Discharge at US Navy Hospital at Portsmouth Virginia. He was awarded the American Theater of operations medal, The Asiatic Pacific Theater of operations medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal.  Seaman 1st class George Sorenson died on April 9, 1999, at the age of 75.
