SEAMAN 1/c KENNETH G. Rowe, 2016093 KIA US Navy. Seaman Rowe attended school in Hampstead New Hampshire, and was in his second year in High School when he enlisted in the Navy, in December, 1937. He played both basketball and baseball in school. After his boot training at Newport,Rhode Island, he served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. Honorably discharged in May, 1941, he reenlisted in July of the same year. After a brief tour of duty at Portsmouth, New Hampshire, he was assigned to submarine patrol on the USS Akirt in the North Atlantic in March, 1942. He was listed as missing in action on May 8, 1942, and officially declared dead, April 5, 1944. The circumstances surrounding his death are unknown. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence S. Rowe, Parkman Maine, formerly of 42 Summer .St., three brothers, and two sisters. He was awarded  The Purple Heart Medal, American Defense Medal, The American Theater of operations Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (PTO), European African Middle Eastern Theater of operations Medal and the World War Two Victory Medal.
