EDWARD MELVILLE PECK,
EDWARD MELVILLE PECK, U. S. Naval Air Corps. He is the husband of Gene Holmes Peck, 203 Albany Avenue, Shreveport Louisiana, and father of Sheila Helen Peck. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Roland Peck, of 201 Albany Avenue, Shreveport. He attended Sacred Heart and St. John’s High Schools and Springhill College, Mobile, Alabama Entering the Naval Air Corps June 2, 1941, in Atlanta. He trained at the Naval Reserve Air Base there and at the U. S. Naval Air Station at Pensacola, Florida, and Miami, undergoing pilot training. He was assigned to duty with carrier squadrons at the NAS, San Diego, Seattle, and Klamath Falls, Oregon. He embarked for sea duty in the Southwest and Northwest Pacific Areas and did land-based and carrier flying in the Fiji Islands, the New Hebrides, New Caledonia, the Solomon Islands, the Admiralties, the Philippines, Okinawa, Iwo Jima, Ulithi, Saipan, Guam, Tinian, and the Hawaiian Islands. He was in combat in the Guadalcanal Defense, the Treasury Islands, Bougainville, Lingayen Gulf Invasion, Iwo Jima Invasion, and Okinawa Invasion. He has four Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC), five Air Medals, the Purple Heart Medal (PHM), the American Defense Service Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater (PTO) Ribbon with four bronze campaign stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one star, and the Victory Medal. He is also the brother of Chief Warrant Officer CHARLES ROLAND PECK, Warrant Officer HARRY ANTHONY PECK, Sergeant JOHN HOWARD PECK, and ROBERT M. PECK.
