Sgt. Harold Lewis Middleton 34635146 US Army KIA. He was born on February 26, 1924, in Copiah, Mississippi, he was the son of Frederick Fred Marion Middleton and Sarah May Benson Middleton. He married Margaret Dickerson in September 1944. He entered the US Army on June 22 1943, at the age of 19. At the time of Harold enlistment he was 5 foot 8 inches tall he weighed 150 pounds had blue eyes and brown hair. He served in K Company, 253rd Infantry Regiment, 63rd Infantry Division in France. He was wounded by Artillery and taken to the field hospitable where he died of his wounds on January 7, 1945,at the age of 20. He was buried in Hazlehurst, Mississippi at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in 1948. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, The Bronze Star Medal, ETO Ribbon, The Combat Infantryman Badge, the American Campaign Medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal.
