Private Jesse Walter Gribble 828988 Private Jesse Walter Gribble 828988 USMC KIA. He was born on July 16, 1920, in Hagerman, Idaho. He was the son of Walter Llewelyn Gribble and Genevieve Genesee Warwick Gribble. He was the brother of Radioman 2nd Class Maryon Earle Gribble 5541308, 1st Lt. Helen Elizabeth Gribble, and brother in law of of Captain Cledith William Bourdeau DSC and Calease Patrick Bourdeau. He married Coral Elaine Brown on July 23, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had one child during their marriage. In 1941 he worked as a window washer at Continental Bank Building in Salt Lake City Utah, after that he worked as a brakeman for the Union Pacific Railroad until his enlistment on June 28, 1944 at the age of 23. He served in combat in G Company, 27th Marines Regiment, 5th Marine Division. He was Killed in action on March 8, 1945, at the age 24 on Iwo Jima. His body was returned to Salt Lake City Utah in 1949. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal (PHM), The American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (PTO), and the World War Two Victory Medal.
