PFC Van Homer Foster 38562592, US Army. He was the son of Mrs. Edna Foster, Beaumont, Texas, he was born on November 4, 1925, in Texas. He entered the service February 23, 1944, at San Antonio. He entered in 2nd Platoon, K Company, 253rd Infantry Regiment, 63rd Infantry Division, on July 15, 1944, and he training at Camp Van Dorn, Mississippi. PFC Foster began overseas duty in November, 1944, in the European Theater, where he served in Alsace Lorraine, Siegfried Line, Saar region of Germany, and participated in the crossing of the Rhine. He was wounded in action near Möckmühl, Germany on April 5, 1945. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, The American Theater of operations, the European Theater of Operations Medal ETO with 2 battle star, the World War Two Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal. After returning home, he was discharged October 1945.
