S/Sgt. Jack L. Donaldson
S/Sgt. Jack L. Donaldson, US Army Air KIA. He was born on June 9, 1918 son of Mr, and Mrs. Frank Donaldson, he graduated from Grand Junction High School. He was the brother of CWT Rose Donaldson. He was the brother in law of CWT Elbert L. Barbee, Raymond D. Barbee, CQM Delbert F. Barbee. He entered the US Army Air Corps on September 21, 1939 and reenlisted on February 19, 1940. He trained in Scott Field, Ill., March Field, Calif. and Kirkland Field, N. M.; went overseas in Sept., 1941; served in the Philippines; he served on Bataan with the 93rd bomb squadron 19th bomb group. He survived the Bataan Death March and died at Camp O’Donnel on May 27, 1942 at the age of 23, as a prison of war. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, the PTO Medal and the World War two Victory Medal.
