Howard Wade Eastwood 20814103 United States Army Prisoner of War Killed in Action. He was born on January 13, 1912, the son of G. E. Eastwood. He entered the United States Army on November 25, 1940 from the Texas National Guard at the time he was a Private. He sailed for the Pacific on November 21, 1941; he served with F Battery, 131st Field Artillery; 36th Infantry Division. He was a member of the “Lost Battalion;” he was captured by the Japanese on Java on March 8, 1942; He died in a Japanese prisoner of war camp in Thailand on January 28, 1944 at the age of 32. He had spent 1 year 10 months and 20 days as a Prisoner of War at the time of his death. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, the Prisoner of War Medal, the American Defense Medal, The American Theater of operations Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (PTO), The Good Conduct Medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal.
