Technician fifth grade Clifford Theodore Quail 39181192 US Army. He was born on August 16, 1911, in Sumner, Nebraska, the son of Harry Johnson Quail and Jennie Eleanor Rumbeck Quail. In 1930 he was living in Elm Creek, Nebraska. In 1935 he moved to Newport, Lincoln County, Oregon. He served 755th CCC civilian conservation corps before he entered the US Army. He entered the US Army on May 11, 1942 at the age of 30. At the time of his enlistment he weighed 157 pounds was 5 foot 8 inches tall had blue eyes and Red / Sandy hair. He served 1st Platoon battery I 202 Coastal Artillery in 1943 he served in C battery 242 AAA. He entered F Company, on June 21, 1944. He served as a cook in HQ Platoon, F Company, 253rd Infantry Regiment, 63rd Infantry Division. He trained with the 63rd Infantry Division at Camp Van Dorn Mississippi. He went overseas with the 63rd Division in November 1944. He fought in the battle of Buchhof and Stine. He was Awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, The American Theater of operations, the European Theater of Operations Medal ETO with 2 battle star, the World War Two Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal. He married Abbie Plummer on March 14, 1948, in Lincoln, Oregon. He died on August 10, 1997, in Newport, Oregon, at the age of 85.
