Pvt, Glen Roy Faurote 36474787 US Army KIA. He was born in 1926 in South Haven, Michigan. He was the son of Ernest C Faurote, Florence Dow Faurote. He married Leatrice Fern Burgoyne (latter she was Tillman) on June 7, 1944. He entered the US army on Aug. 25 1944, around the age of 18. He jointed E Company, 253rd Infantry regiment, 63rd Infantry Division on March 12,1945 with 14 other men from the 2nd or the 21st Replacement Depot. He served in E Company for 23 days. During this time he took part in the fighting for the Siegfried Line in the crossed the Rhine on March 28, the captured of Heidelberg on March 30. Crossed the Neckar River and the Jagst River, E Company, 253rd Infantry regiment, received the majority of the German resistance during this time. He died on April 4, 1945, on hill 233 near the town of Untergriesheim Germany at the age of 19. At the time of his death E Company was holding back a strong close quarter combat counterattack by the 17th SS of Infantry and Tanks. Had E Company not been able to hold back this attack the SS would have pushed 2nd Battalion, 253rd Infantry, in to the Jagst River. His body was interred at Lorraine Military Cemetery France. He was awarded the Bronze Stare Medal, Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations Medal, The European African Middle Eastern Theater of operations Medal, the World War Two Victory Medal,  and the Combat Infantry Badge.
