PVT. Martin E Connallon 32456622 US Army KIA. He was born on March 21, 1919, in Ireland, the son of William Aloysius Patrick Connallon and Elizabeth T. Browdell Connallon. He grew up in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey. He entered the US Army on Aug 6, 1942, at the age of 23. At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 7 inches tall weighed 162 pounds had Brown eyes and brown hair. He entered E company on March 9, 1945 from the 21st Reinf Bn.
During this time he took part in the fighting for the Siegfried Line, the crossed the Rhine on March 28, the captured of Heidelberg on March 30. Crossed the Neckar River and the Jagst River, E Company, 253rd Infantry regiment, 63rd Infantry Division received the majority of the German resistance during this time.
He died on April 8, 1945, in Stine Germany at the age of 26. At the time of his death he was advancing on Stine Germany; (The same town that John R. Crews earned the Medal of Honor helping take.) Connallon was awarded the Bronze Stare Medal, Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations Medal, The European African Middle Eastern Theater of operations Medal, the World War Two Victory Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was returned to the United States and was buried in his hometown in 1949.
