T/5 Gustaf Frederick Thomas 37266878 US Army. He was born on May 24, 1917 the son of Gustaf Thomas and Anna E Thomas. He grew up in Ohiowa, Nebraska. At the time of his enlistment he was working as a farmer. He was 6 foot 2 inches tall weighed 175 pounds had brown hair and gray eyes. He transferred into Service Battery, 718th Field Artillery battalion, 63rd Infantry Division on July 22, 1944 at Camp Van Dorn. He served in the Service Battery for the remainder of his training and with the Service Battery his entire time in Combat from November 1944 to May 1945. He remained in the Battery until August 15, 1945 when and many other men that did not have enough points to go home were transferred to a replacement depo. He married Lucille Gretchen Duis Thomas, on March 9, 1946, and they had two children, Thomas Duis Thomas and Jayne Ellen Thomas. He died on February 12, 1993 at the age of 75. He is interred at Ohiowa Cemetery in Ohiowa, Nebraska.
