Captain JAMES PAUL SWEARINGEN

Captain JAMES PAUL SWEARINGEN, U. S. Army. Husband of June Elizabeth Swearingen, 1421 Broadway, New Orleans. He was born September 15, 1918, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Swearingen, 525 Olive Street, Shreveport. He is also the brother of Major DAVID C. SWEARINGEN. He attended Centenary College in Shreveport for two years and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University in 1939. He studied at the Tulane University School of Medicine 1939-1943, receiving his M.D. degree, and is a physician. Entering the service March 8, 1944, at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, he attended the Medical Field Service School there. His later assignments in the States included Tilton General Hospital, Fort Dix, New Jersey ; the 103rd General Hospital, Camp Sibert, Alabama; and the Office of the Surgeon General, United States Army, Washington, D. C. He served overseas with the 103rd General Hospital at Tidworth (Wilts), England (ETO), beginning his overseas duty July 19, 1944.
