Seaman First Class, THOMAS GREER STEPHENSON

Seaman First Class, THOMAS GREER STEPHENSON U. S. Navy. Husband of Eloise Stephenson, of Shreveport, and son of Estelle Coyle and Tom F. Stephenson. He is also the brother of JAMES ROBERT STEPHENSON. He was born March 17, 1925, and entered the U. S. Navy March 17, 1943, at the age of 18. He was assigned to the U. S. Naval Training Station at San Diego, California, and served at the Destroyer Base in San Diego (Gunnery School) and at the Armed Guard Center Pacific. He transferred to the Armed Guard Center Brooklyn, New York. On July 9, 1943, he embarked for the Pacific Area and served as gunner aboard the following ships: the SS Great Republic, the SS Columbian, the SS John Ellard, the SS Caperace. He served in the South Pacific, the Caribbean Sea, the South Atlantic, the North Atlantic, the North Sea and the Mediterrancan. He was in combat at Peleliu, Palau Islands, and in the Invasion of France for which he has a campaign star. He has the American Theater, European African Middle Eastern Theater (ETO), and Asiatic Pacific Theater (PTO) Ribbons and Victory Medal.
