Seaman Second Class, MARION LEROY SMITH

Seaman Second Class, MARION LEROY SMITH US Navy. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Smith, Shreveport Shreveport Louisiana. He is also the brother of Corporal GEORGE W. SMITH and Sergeant CLYDE B. SMITH. He March 28, 1928, and attended Coushatta High School and Fair Park High School prior to enlisting in the United States Navy May 25, 1945, at the age of 17. From the U. S. Naval Training Station, San Diego, California, he was assigned to duty in the South Pacific and embarked September 1, 1945, for Pearl Harbor (PTO) where he was sent to special air conditioning and refrigeration school. Seaman Smith continued to serve in the Hawaiian Islands at the close of hostilities in the Pacific and was serving with the Navy there.
