Sergeant CLYDE B. SMITH 34072295, U. S. Army. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Smith. He was educated at Ratcliff, Arkansas, and at East Point. He is also the brother of Seaman Second Class, MARION LEROY SMITH and Corporal GEORGE W. SMITH. He was a building contractor prior to entering the armed forces April 10, 1941. He served at Camp Livingston, Camp Shelby, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, and Camp Shanks, New York. On March 13, 1944, he embarked for England, and served in England, France, Luxembourg, and Germany as an armored report clerk in the G-4 section, Third U. S. Army, ‘under General George S. Patton, Jr. He fought with the Third Army spearheading the attack across Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes, and Central Europe and has the European Theater of Operations (ETO) Ribbon with five bronze campaign stars. He also has the American Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater of Operations Ribbon, and World War Two Victory Medal. He was discharged September 27, 1945.
