Sergeant Thomas Thelbert Simpkins 38473237 US Army KIA. He was born on August 11, 1923, the son of Mrs. Carl Allen of Kilgore, and the brother of Corporal Troy L. Simpkins 38301780, Corporal Austin L. Simpkins, and Seaman 2nd Class Joe C. Simpkins. Thomas entered the Army Combat on February 4, 1943, at the age of 19. He, trained at Camp Swift, Texas. Served in England, with the 146th engineer combat battalion. He was Killed in action in Normandy on June 6, 1944.
