Staff Sergeant WILLIAM BRADLEY SHELTON, JR.
Staff Sergeant WILLIAM BRADLEY SHELTON, JR., U. S. Army. Husband of Jacqueline Martin Shelton, of Shreveport, Louisiana. He was born November 10, 1917, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bradley Shelton of, Mooringsport. He attended Elm Grove High School and a business college and was bookkeeper for Shreveport Beverage Agency prior to his induction November 23, 1942 at the age of 25. He trained and served prior to going overseas at Camp Adair, Oregon, Camp Horn, Arizona, Camp Carson, Colorado, and Camp San Luis Obispo, California. On August 27, 1944, he embarked for the European Theater of Operations (ETO) where he fought in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He served in the campaigns of Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe with the 104th Infantry Division. Staff Sergeant Shelton was awarded the Bronze Star Medal (BSM) for heroism in action against the enemy when he left a place of concealment in the face of enemy fire inflicting many casualties upon the troops and administered first aid to the wounded under fire, then remained to help effect evacuation. He was credited with saving many lives. He was honorably discharged November 6, 1945. Aloung with his Bronze Star Medal he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, The American Theater of operations Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater of operations medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal.
