PFC Nervin W. Schlender 37696681 KIA US Army. He was born on February 13, 1926 in Madison South Dakota. He was the son of Max Frank Schlender and Charlotte M. Wilkins of Erwin South Dakota. He entered the US Army on May 9, 1944 at the age of 18, in Clay County Iowa. He entered 2nd Platoon, G Company253rd Infantry Regiment63rd Infantry Division on September 21, 1944 at Camp Van Dorn Mississippi. He died on April 4, 1945, on hill 233 near the town of Untergriesheim Germany at the age of 19. His body was interred at Lorraine Military Cemetery France. He was awarded the Bronze Stare Medal The Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations Medal, The European African Middle Eastern Theater of operations Medal, the World War Two Victory Medal,  and the Combat Infantry Badge.
