Supply Sergeant ROBERT BENTON PRESLAR, USMC U. S. Marine

Supply Sergeant ROBERT BENTON PRESLAR, USMC U. S. Marines. Brother of Sergeant, FRANCIS TEER PRESLAR. Husband of Dorris Easley Preslar, and father of Dana Jo Preslar, he was born December 29, 1911, and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Preslar. He attended Bossier City High School and Lynn’s Business College in Shreveport Louisiana, and was field clerk for a pipeline concern prior to enlisting in the U. S. Marine Corps, April 15. 1942 at the age of 30. He was assigned to duty at San Diego, California, as disbursing clerk and at Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, California, as a non-commissioned officer in charge of 5th Marine Division General Supply Warehouse. On October 4, 1944, he embarked for the Islands of Hawaii and served in the Pacific Area October 11, 1944, to December 2, 1945. He was in combat in the Marine Invasion of Iwo Jima February 19 to March 16, 1945, and was NCO in charge of the 5th Division General Supply Dump in the Occupation of Japan September 22 to November 18, 1945. He has the Good Conduct Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter and Pistol Marksman Badges. Asiatic Pacific Theater (PTO) Ribbon with two campaign stars. Discharged December 18, 1945.
