Aerographer’s Mater, Second Class PHYLLIS EVELYN RHOADES

Aerographer’s Mater, Second Class PHYLLIS EVELYN RHOADES, USNR (Wave). Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Leslie Rhoades, Shreveport. Sister of First Lieutenant FRANK LESLIE RHOADES, JR. Radioman, Third Class RHOADES HERBERT CHARLES Rhoades. She was born November 26, 1918, and attended Dodd College for Women and Centenary College in Shreveport. She had served as a high school teacher and accountant in civilian life prior to induction in the Waves. On November 9, 1943 at the age of 24. She was inducted into the armed service in Dallas, Texas. She was sent to Hunter College, United States Naval Training School, New York City. Upon finishing there, she was sent to the Naval Air Station, Lakehurst, New Jersey, to Primary Aerographer’s School. She was stationed at the Naval Air Field at Glynco, Georgia Aerographer’s Mate Second Class Rhoades received her discharge December 6, 1945.
