Private First Class William Guthrie Peterson 35558500 US Army KIA. He was born on October 28, 1924, the son of John, and Ethel Peterson, of Rt. 1, Defiance, graduate of Tiffin Twp. High. Entered Army, July 10, 1943, in Toledo Ohio, at the age of 18. He trained at Camp Haan, and Camp Carson, Colo. Served in France, and was killed in action December 11, 1944 in vicinity of Alt Schmel, France, at the age of 20. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal (PHM), The Bronze Star Medal (BSM), The American Theater of operations, the European African Middle Eastern Theater of operations, the World War Two Victory Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge.
