PFC Connie Mack Pennell 34967769 KIA

Private First Class Connie Mack Pennell 34967769 United States Army Killed in Action. He was born on February 24, 1924, in Taylorsville, Alexander, North Carolina he was the son of Florence Minerva Thomas Pennell, and Grover Washington Pennell. He had five brothers and two sisters. His brothers were John Odell Pennell, Jay Wilson Pennell, Fred Ray Pennell, Paul Smith Pennell his sisters were Mary Amanda Pennell St Clair and Nell Rose Pennell. He entered the service on April 1, 1944, at the age of 20. At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 9 inches tall weighed 145 pounds had Brown eyes and Black hair.  He trained at Fort McClellan, Alabama, and Camp Gruber, Oklahoma. He went overseas to the European Theatre of Operations on November 28, 1944. He served in the 359th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division. He was killed in action on January 16, 1945 in Belgium at the age of 20, and was buried in Hamm, Luxembourg, Luxembourg. He served for 9 months in the US Army. He was awarded the European Theatre of Operations medal, and the Purple Heart Medal.
