SKT First Class, MALCOLM WAYNE PARKER
SKT First Class, MALCOLM WAYNE PARKER U. S. Navy. He is the son of Mrs. Jack Cryer of Route 2, Leesville. He was born March 10, 1923, and attended Pickering High School, being employed in construction work at Camp Polk from the time of his graduation to his induction November 7, 1942, in the United States Navy, in Shreveport, at the age of 19. From the U. S. Naval Training Station, San Diego, California, he went to the Naval Section Base, San Pedro. On April 26, 1943, he embarked for the Fiji Islands. He served in the Fijis, the New Hebrides Islands, on Guadalcanal, Tulagi, the Russells, Rendova, Munda, and Ondonga in the New Georgias, British Solomon Islands. During his two tours of overseas duty he was also assigned to Pearl Harbor in Hawaii and Samar and Calicoan in the Philippine Islands. He was in combat in the assault of the New Georgias, British Solomon Islands, on June 30, 1943. He has the Asiatic Pacific Theater (PTO) Ribbon with one campaign star, the American Theater Ribbon, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. Returning to the States after two tours of duty, he was honorably discharged March 19, 1946, at New Orleans. He is also the brother of Technician fifth grade GLYNN C. PARKER.
