Captain ARTHUR K. OLSEN O220997 US Army KIA. Captain OLSEN was born on February 17, 1904, in Utah. He enlisted in the US Army the first time on July 19, 1925. After he left the military he lived in Creston, and Douglas in Union County Iowa. His Occupation was Engineer, and he was married to Bernice D Olsen and they had a son Arthur K Olsen. Captain OLSEN entered the service again on August 18, 1944, at the age of 40. His branch of service was Military Government. He trained at Fort Custer, Michigan; Yale University, Connecticut. He served oversees in the European Theater of Operations with the 1st Army Engineers and 2 Europe C AFF Regt. He was Killed in Action on November 17, 1944, in Alsdorf, Germany, at the age of 40. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal (PHM), Bronze Star Medal (BSM), with oak leaf cluster, The American Theater of operations Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater of operations Medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal. In 1949 his remains were returned to the Salt Lake City Cemetery in Utah.
