He was the brother of Elizabeth Corinhne Murphy, Charlston Emmett Murphy, Vernon C. Murphy, Ariel June Murphy VanCleve, Major Audie L Murphy, Eugene Porter Murphy, Billie Beatrice Murphy, Bonner Tindol, and Joseph Preston Murphy. He entered the US Army on April 19, 1944, at the age of 18.  At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 6 inches weighed 116 pounds had brown eyes and Black Hair. He trained at Camp Maxey Texas and served in Germany with the US Army Medical Corps. He was awarded The American Theater of operations, the European Theater of Operations Medal ETO, and the World War Two Victory Medal. He died on November 17, 1956 in Los Angeles California at the age of 30.
