Private Clarence James McCarty 38522347 US Army KIA. He was born on May 25, 1923, in Vivian, Louisiana. He was the son of Garland McCarty and Artha S Hooper of Vivian, Louisiana. His father died in on September 19, 1925, in Gilliam, Louisiana, his Mother died on March 6, 1943, and his sister Addie Lois Mc Carty died on April 8, 1942. He also had two brother Lee Roy McCarty 1915–1980, and Claiborne McCarty 1922–1976. He was married to Annie Lois Hammons. He entered the US Army on October 29, 1943 at the age of 19. He served in Company C, 339th Infantry Regiment, 85th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on September 27, 1944, in Firenze,  Italy, at the age of 21, and was buried in Vivian, Louisiana, in 1949. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations, the European Theater of Operations Medal ETO with 2 battle star, and the World War Two Victory Medal.
