STM 1/ c Miles Davis King, US Navy. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Felix King, and the brother of Cpl. Therman King, of Gilmer, Texas. Miles graduated from Valley View High School. He entered the US Navy in 1943. He trained at Bremerton, Wash. He served in Africa, Malta, Italy, Sicily, France, Panama, Pearl Harbor, Marshalls, Saipan, Guam, Ulithi and Yap. He was awarded the ETO Medal, the PTO Medal and the Purple Heart Medal. He was wounded in the Pacific. He was discharged in 1945.
