Staff Sergeant JOSEPH E. KERBOW 18039576 Killed in Action, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl B. Kerbow, and brother of Staff Sergeant Earl Lowry Kerbow (KIA) of Dallas. JOSEPH E. KERBOW, was born December 17, 1922, Attended Adamson High School in Dallas, and volunteered January 13, 1942 at the age of 19. He served in the Army Air Corps; trained at Sheppard Field, Texas, and Elgin Field, Florida; began overseas duty in North Africa, with the 445th Bomber Squadron, 321st Bomber Group, Medium, 12th Army Air Force. He served in the air offensive over Sicily, Sardinia, Italy, and participated in forty — seven combat missions. Sgt. Kerbow was killed in action on October 8, 1944, in a raid over Greece. His awards included the Purple Heart Medal (PHM) the Air Medal with nine Oak Leaf Clusters, Group Citation and Citation of Honor from Air Corps and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (ETO), American Theater of operations, and The World War Two Victory Medal.
