They lived at 240 West Main St New Holland Lancaster County Pennsylvania. He entered the US Army on May 15, 1942 in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. He served in F Company, 143rd Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division and was Killed in Action on September 24, 1943 in Italy. After Private William J Johnson death his wife was living at 723 Fifth St Lancaster Pennsylvania. He was buried at Sicily-Rome American Cemetery Nettuno, Italy at Plot B Row 5 Grave 18. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Silver Star Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations, the European Theater of Operations Medal ETO, and the World War Two Victory Medal.
