First Lieutenant Charles Walter Gerst  O-1304891 US Army Killed in Action. He was born on April 3, 1915 in San Benito, Texas, the son of James Oscar Gerst and Myrtle Camp Gerst. He was living in Dallas Texas in 1940, At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 10 inches tall he weighed 150 pounds, he had Brown Eyes and Brown Hair. He was killed in Action on  October 26, 1944, at the age of 29 on Leyte. He served in combat with Cannon Company382nd Infantry Regiment, 96th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, The Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations Medal, The Asiatic Pacific Theater of operationsWorld War Two Victory Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal.
