PFC George J. Galgocy 33828025
PFC George James Galgocy 33828025 US Army. He was born on April 1, 1925 in Miller Heights, Pennsylvania. He was the son of George J. Galgocy, Ethel Galgocy, and brother of Elizabeth Petrovich, Irene Germuga, Louis Galgocy, Eugene Galgocy, Margaret Belshaw. George entered the US Army on June 25, 1943 at the age of 18. At the time of his enlistment he was a member of the Reformed Church. At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 6 inches tall weighed 140 pounds had brown hair and brown eyes and was employed at R K Larson Silk Mills. He went overseas on January 21, 1944. He served in the 15th Infantry Regiment, of the 3rd Infantry Division in Europe. He was in an Army Hospital in December 1944 – January 1945. After his time in the Hospital he went back to his unit in the 15th Infantry Regiment.
He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Purple Heart Medal, Bronze Star Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, The American Theater of operations, the European Theater of Operations Medal ETO, the World War Two Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He returned to the United States on December 1, 1945. He was discharged from the US Army on December 6, 1945 in Indian Town Gap. After the war he was living in Allentown Pennsylvania. He married Ella Pulyer on October 12, 1946. He died on June 6, 1997 at the age of 72.
