Technical Sergeant JAMES W. CARDEN 18034116 US Army Airborne. He was born in 1920 and lived in Munday, Texas. He entered the service on March 24, 1941. He trained in San Antonio, Texas, and other parts of the US. He served in Company A, 513 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 17th Airborne Division. On August 1, 1944 he went overseas to the European Theatre, he fought in the engagements of Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe. He returned to United States on November 28, 1945, and was discharged on December 1, 1945 at Camp Grant, Illinois, after 4 years, 9 months of service. He was awarded the Jump wings, Purple Heart Medal with 1 oak leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, The American Theater of operations, the European Theater of Operations Medal ETO with 3 battle star, the World War Two Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal.  As of 1947 his occupation was Plumber and Electrician.
