First Lieutenant PERCY Louis CABRA

 

First Lieutenant PERCY Louis CABRA 34235491 (Enlisted), US Army. He is the husband of Emma V. Turner Cabra, he was born July 26, 1913, the son of Mrs. Belle J. Cabra of Leesville. He attended LeesVille High School and Louisiana State University (LSU). On March 13, 1942, he entered the Corps of Engineers, at the age of 28. He went to Fort Belvoir, Virginia, for basic training and Officer Candidate School. He was stationed at Camp Shelby, Mississippi with the 727th Railway Operating Battalion as assistant to trainmaster. From Fort Dix, New Jersey, he embarked December 12, 1942, for Oran, North Africa, where he served in the Tunisian campaign until July 21, 1943. He took part in the Sicilian and Italian campaigns and served with the 727th Railway Operation Battalion until September 1, 1944, at which time he was transferred to the Army Air Forces and assigned to AAFSC/MTO, MCU No. 1 at Naples as liaison officer at Naples Port. He sailed from Naples January 21, 1945, landing in New York February 5, 1945, and was placed on inactive status September 4, 1945. He has the (ETO) ribbon with a Bronze Arrowhead (Sicilian Invasion), Presidential Unit Citation (PUC) (Tunisia), a commendation from General Patton for Sicily and one from General Mark Clark for Italy. He is also the brother of HOWARD ARTHUR CABRA.
