Lt. Bruce Bowden O-551155

Lt. Bruce Bowden O551155 US Army. He was born on October 27, 1921, in Norfolk, Virginia, he was the son of Henry Bowden and Katherine Marsden Bruce Bowden. He married Bette Lea Norton on July 5, 1944, in Richmond City, Virginia. He had one child during his marriage. When he entered the US Army he was 5 foot 8 inches tall weighed 130 pounds had Blue Eyes and Brown hair. He attended Virginia Military Institute in Lexington Virginia. He then went to Officers Candidate School at For Sill Okla.

He entered the Antitank Company of the 253rd Infantry regiment, of the 63rd Infantry Division on September 24, 1944. He served with them overseas. He earned his Bronze Star Medal for meritorious Service from April 9 – 16, 1945. During the fighting for Stein Am Kocher Germany April 8 – 10, 1945 at some point he left his map in one of the houses. On July 1, 1945 he was transferred to the 36th Infantry Division the “Arrowhead Division”

He was awarded the the Bronze Star Medal With an oak leaf clusterThe American Theater of operationsthe European Theater of Operations Medal ETO with 2 battle star,and the World War Two Victory Medal. He died on August 24, 2010, in Sun City, Arizona, at the age of 88, and was buried there.
