Private First Class Robert Edwin Alexander 44005211 U. S. Army, KIA. Born June 13, 1926 at Florence Alabama. He was the son of Everett H. Alexander and Mamie Cook of Miami, Florida, and brother of Cpl. Everett Lee Alexander. Robert attended school at Andrew Jackson Sr. High School, and was a member of the Lutheran Church. Entered service Aug. 21, 1944 at Miami, Florida, at the age of 18. At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 5 inches tall had brown eyes black hair and weighed 125 pounds. Robert received basic training at Camp Wheeler, Ga. He saw action in the European Theater Operations. He served in E Company 137th Infantry 35th Division. He was Killed in action March 9, 1945 at Ossenburg, Germany. He was Awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations, the European Theater of Operations Medal ETO with 2 battle star, and the World War Two Victory Medal. In 1949 his body was lade to rest at Graceland Memorial Park in Coral Gables, Miami-Dade County, Florida.
