PFC Charles Charlie Acardo 34198818 US Army Infantry. He was born on August 26, 1908, in St James, Louisiana, he was the son of Giuseppe Joseph Accardo and Mathilda Mattia Cascio Accardo. In 1940 he was living at Road 3 Sh, Tangipahoa, Louisiana with his wife Pearl Accardo and three children Catherine Accardo, Lena Accardo, Josie Accardo. He entered the US Army on February 12, 1942 at the age of 33, at Fort Mcpherson Georgia. At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 3 inches tall weighed 135 pounds had brown eyes and black hair. He served in L Company, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on October 18, 1944, at the age of 36. In 1949 he was buried in Convent, Louisiana. He was Awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations, the European Theater of Operations Medal ETO, the World War Two Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Presidential Unit Citation.
