Private First Class ORVILLE ANDREW NETHERTON
Private First Class ORVILLE ANDREW NETHERTON, US Army. Brother of BEN EDGAR NETHERTON, Lieutenant WALTER DONALDSON NETHERTON KIA, Private First Class ORVILLE ANDREW NETHERTON and Captain GROVER TILLMAN NETHERTON. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Grover T. Netherton, of 3302 West College, Shreveport, Louisiana. He was born March 10, 1925, and attended Queensborough Grammar School and Fair Park High School. Entering the Army February 10, 1943, in Shreveport, Louisiana, at the age of 17. He served in Ordnance at Kelly Field, San Antonio, Texas, Sheppard Field, Texas, Fort Crook, Salt Lake City Army Air Base Utah, Syersbury Army Air Base, Kearns, Utah, Chatham Field, Georgia, and Camp Patrick Henry, Virginia He departed for overseas service on January 13, 1944, going to the European African Middle Eastern Theater of Operations (ETO) where he served in Italy. He was in combat in the Campaigns of Rome-Arno, Northern France, the Invasion of Southern France, the North Apennines, the Rhineland, the PO Valley, and the Air Combat over the Balkans. He has the Good Conduct Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation Badge; and the European African Middle Eastern Theater of Operations Ribbon with Campaign Stars. He is continuing to serve with the Army Corps of Military Police in Brazil.
