PFC. EDWARD J. PLEHAL

PFC. EDWARD J. PLEHAL USMC. He was the son of Dan Plehal 4035 Zenith Ave North Robbinsdale Minn and the brother of Pfc. Robert Daniel Plehal 37576236Edward entered the armed forces Jan. 1944, at Fort Snelling, assigned to the Marine Corps. Was stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif. Sailed overseas Oct. 10, 1944, from San. Francisco, with the Communications Service of the 6th Marine Division, 22nd Marines. Edward served in the South Pacific theater, fought in the Okinawa battle. Was awarded the South Pacific theater ribbon and two battle stars and the Purple Heart Medals. He was awarded the medals at Pearl Harbor in Sept., 1945. He was hospitalized at Guam for 2 1/2 months for burns received from shell splinters on Okinawa. Honorably discharged in April, 1946, at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
