Pfc. Robert Daniel Plehal 37576236

Pfc. Robert Daniel Plehal 37576236 US Army. He was the son of Dan Plehal 4035 Zenith Ave North Robbinsdale Minn and the brother of PFC Edward Joseph Plehal. At the time of Robert’s enlistment he was 5 foot 11 inches tall weighed 150 pounds had Brown hair and brown eyes. He joined the Army infantry on Sept. 4, 1943, at Camp Fannin, Texas and received all his training there before shipping out for the war in April, 1944, from Ft. Ord, Calif. He served  with the Army Scouts of the 149th Infantry Regiment, 38th Infantry Division in the Pacific war against the Japanese. He fought at Oro Bay, Finchafen, Hollandia, Leyte, Bataan, Manila and Wawa dam. Pfc. Plehal was killed in action at Sapangbato on April 12, 1945, just four months before the war’s end. The circumstances of his death have not been learned by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Plehal. He is buried on Luzon, Philippine Islands.
