Fireman 1st class Chester Daniel Butters 8787921 KIA US Navy. He was born on October 15, 1923 in Jacksonville, Florida.  He was the son of Charles Edward Butters, of 1224 S. Dudley Ave., Compton, Compton, Los Angeles, California. At the time of his enlistment he was working at California Shipbuilding Corp, at the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 9 inches weighed 143 pounds had brown hair and hazel eyes. He served aboard the USS Newcomb DD-586. On April 6, 1945 off of Okinawa Ryukyus Islands, he was Killed in Action when a kamikaze struck the USS Newcomb DD-586. He was awarded the  Purple Heart Medal,the Asiatic Pacific Theater of operations Medal (PTO), The American Theater of operations Medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal.
