Staff Sergeant Lyle Jacobitz 37256176 US Army. He was born on November 8, 1918. He was the son of Albert and Clara Louise (Meyer) Jacobitz of Nelson, Nebraska.  He attended Raising Valley and Red Line Country Schools and later attended Nelson High School. He married Jean Loraine Corliss, on June 12, 1943, at Camp Barkley, Texas. He entered the US Army on April 2, 1942, at the age of 23. At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 10 inche weighed 154 pounds had Brown eyes ans brown hair and was working for the CCC Civilian Conservation Corps . He served in the 90th Infantry Division. He served in Combat with 3rd Platoon, Company F, 253rd Infantry Regiment, 63rd Infantry Division. On April 5, 1945, around 1600 hours Third Platoon made the attempt on a hill near Untergriesheim and was unable to take the hill due to the large amount of enemy artillery and mortar fire. Third Platoon suffered two casualties – Staff Sergeant Lyle Jacobitz and PFC Francis Messick – First platoon took the hill the next day before going to Buchhof Germany. He was wounded in action on April 5, 1945.  He was discharged from the US Army on December 4, 1946. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations, the European Theater of Operations Medal ETO with 2 battle star, and the World War Two Victory Medal. He died on November 14, 1997, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 79 years
